A pivotal work in the evolution of the artist’s visual language, Love marks the successful fusion of two major bodies of research developed throughout previous years: Pixel Remix portraiture and kinetic abstraction.

Constructed entirely from Venetian glass tesserae, the work reinterprets an iconic contemporary portrait through a system of vertical chromatic structures that fragment, conceal, and reveal the image simultaneously. Rather than depicting the subject directly, the portrait emerges through optical vibration, forcing the viewer’s eye to reconstruct the image from layers of rhythm, color, and interruption.

The piece represents a significant breakthrough within the artist’s practice. After years exploring kinetic compositions through works such as Fondo Marino, Fiesta, and Dunas, the artist successfully integrates those optical investigations into a figurative composition, creating a new hybrid language where portraiture and abstraction coexist within the same visual system.

The alternating bands of color generate a dynamic interference effect reminiscent of digital screens, signal distortion, and early electronic imagery. Depending on the viewing distance, the work oscillates between abstraction and recognition, creating a constantly shifting visual experience.

Beyond its technical achievement, Love explores themes of desire, perception, and contemporary image culture. The sensuality of the portrait becomes inseparable from the movement of the composition itself, transforming the act of looking into an active process of visual discovery.
