Created in 2012, Girl with Hair Ribbon Pixel Remix explores the historical relationship between Pop Art reproduction systems and contemporary digital imagery. Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s iconic visual language, the work translates the logic of Ben-Day dots into a handcrafted mosaic structure where each tessera functions as a physical pixel.

Rather than simply reproducing a Pop icon, the piece examines how images are constructed through modular units of color and perception. By replacing printed dots with individually assembled Venetian tesserae, the work establishes a dialogue between mechanical reproduction, digital screens and material image-making.

Positioned within the early Pixel Remix series, the mosaic marks a significant stage in the development of the artist’s visual language, connecting twentieth-century mass media aesthetics with contemporary pixel culture. The work investigates scale, resolution and visual synthesis while reflecting on the continuous evolution of image technologies across different historical periods.
