A pivotal work within the artist’s ongoing investigation into perception, technology, and public art. Created in 2024, Eye Pixel Remix reinterprets M.C. Escher’s iconic Eye, translating one of the most celebrated images in the history of optical art into the language of contemporary pixel-based mosaic.

The work emerges from a long-standing fascination with systems of visual construction. While Escher explored perception through engraving, mathematics, and geometric illusion, Eye Pixel Remix reconstructs that same inquiry through a grid of 1,600 hand-placed Venetian glass tesserae. The image becomes simultaneously physical and digital, existing at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary image culture.

This piece also marks the consolidation of a format that would become central to the artist’s production. Measuring 80 × 80 cm, the work occupies a scale that successfully bridges urban intervention and private collection. Developed from the same visual logic used in the artist’s public mosaics, it translates the language of the street into a format capable of inhabiting domestic, institutional, and gallery spaces without losing its visual impact.

The composition is based on an earlier mosaic installed in public space, making this edition a direct continuation of the artist’s long-term exploration of PixelArt Street Art. Rather than merely documenting a mural, the work transforms a public intervention into a collectible object while preserving its original conceptual framework.

Viewed up close, the image dissolves into individual units of color and light. From a distance, the eye emerges with striking clarity, recreating the same perceptual shift that has defined the artist’s practice since his earliest pixel-based interventions. As with many works throughout the series, contemporary technology becomes part of the viewing experience, with smartphone cameras often reconstructing details and visual information beyond what is immediately perceived by the naked eye.

Created during the period in which the artist’s studio evolved into what would later become Galería PX, Eye Pixel Remix stands as a synthesis of multiple strands within his practice: public art, digital culture, optical experimentation, and contemporary mosaic.
