Frankenstein Pixel Remix Venetian mosaic · 60×80 cm · 2012

US$2.000

Ultra-limited edition of 5 works.

Created in 2012, Frankenstein Pixel Remix explores the persistence of one of the most recognizable fictional figures in modern visual culture. Drawing from the iconography of classic cinema, the work reconstructs the legendary character through a handcrafted pixel structure assembled tessera by tessera, translating a cinematic image into a material system of color, texture and light.

Rather than depicting a monster, the mosaic examines how fictional identities survive across generations through continuous processes of reproduction, reinterpretation and cultural circulation. Emerging from literature before becoming a global cinematic icon, Frankenstein embodies the migration of images across media and historical periods.

Positioned within the early Pixel Remix series, the work investigates the relationship between popular mythology, collective memory and contemporary image-making. Through the transformation of a black-and-white film icon into a vibrant mosaic surface, Frankenstein Pixel Remix reflects on the enduring capacity of images to remain present long after their original context has disappeared.
