Vincent Pixel Remix Venetian mosaic · 60×66 cm · 2012

US$2.500

Foundational work: the emergence of a pixel-based visual language in mosaic.

Created in 2012, Vincent Pixel Remix marks the beginning of PixelArt’s long-term investigation into the migration of digital imagery into physical space. Conceived as a reinterpretation of Vincent van Gogh through Venetian mosaic, the work became the first successful translation of the pixel from screen-based media into a handcrafted material system.

Rather than reproducing a historical portrait, the piece explores how images are constructed, perceived and remembered through discrete units of color. Each tessera operates as a physical pixel, transforming a canonical artwork into a contemporary reflection on digital vision, image fragmentation and visual reconstruction.

In retrospect, this mosaic represents the origin of a practice centered on image persistence, cultural appropriation and the transformation of iconic imagery into material form. What began as a technical experiment evolved into the conceptual foundation of an ongoing body of work spanning mosaics, urban interventions and public installations.

Unique Venetian mosaic created in 2012.
