Created by invitation of Murvi, one of Latin America’s leading Venetian mosaic manufacturers, I Want to Believe reinterprets the legendary image from The X-Files, transforming one of popular culture’s most recognizable symbols into a physical structure of light, color, and perception.

Constructed pixel by pixel using 8,100 individually placed Murvi glass tesserae, the work explores the intersection between belief, technology, and visual decoding. Beyond its cultural reference, the piece incorporates a carefully designed anaglyph effect, allowing the image to acquire stereoscopic depth when viewed through traditional red-and-blue 3D glasses.

The work occupies a unique position within the artist’s career. While earlier projects focused primarily on translating images into mosaic, I Want to Believe introduces a new layer of investigation: the possibility that a static image can reveal hidden information through optical mediation. This research would later connect with other bodies of work centered on perception, encryption, and image decoding.

The original 90 × 90 cm artwork was acquired for the permanent collection of Murvi in Argentina, where it remains today as part of the company’s historical archive.

Artist-authorized editions are available exclusively in a monumental 180 × 180 cm format, amplifying both the optical effect and the immersive experience of the work.
