ORBITAL MOIRÉ OSCILLATION [v.01] Plotter Drawing · 50×50 cm · 2023

US$1.400

Limited Edition of 5 • First Edition Available

A significant work within the artist’s ongoing investigation into abstraction, generative systems, and machine-assisted image making. Created in 2023, Orbital Moiré Oscillation [v.01] expands a line of research that has accompanied the artist since the earliest stages of his practice, tracing its origins back to Tsunami (2013), his first fully abstract artwork developed through custom JavaScript programming.

Produced using a precision pen plotter and black Pentel ink on paper, the work explores the visual phenomenon known as the moiré effect, where overlapping structures generate the illusion of movement, depth, and vibration. Rather than representing an external subject, the composition transforms perception itself into the artwork, allowing geometry and interference patterns to become the primary visual language.

Originally designed using the now-discontinued software Macromedia Fireworks, a tool central to the artist’s early digital practice, the piece reflects a lifelong fascination with pixel-perfect construction and computational aesthetics. Here, the pixel evolves into a modular graphic system capable of generating complex optical experiences through repetition, rhythm, and variation.

The work occupies a unique position within the artist’s production. While his mosaics translate digital images into physical matter, Orbital Moiré Oscillation [v.01] abandons figurative representation altogether, focusing instead on the underlying structures that govern visual perception. A spherical form appears and dissolves within a field of oscillating lines, creating a dynamic tension between mathematical precision and organic movement.

Viewed from different distances, the composition continuously shifts between pattern and image, stability and vibration. The result is an artwork that exists somewhere between drawing, code, optics, and kinetic art.

As the first work in a limited edition of five, Orbital Moiré Oscillation [v.01] marks an important milestone in the artist’s evolution toward generative abstraction and stands as a direct link between his early algorithmic experiments and his contemporary explorations of perception, technology, and visual systems.
