A work that connects one of the oldest human impulses with the language of contemporary computation. Created in 2026, Binary Devotion [v.01] transforms an iconic symbol of love into an exploration of repetition, perception, and digital construction.

The piece originates from a study developed for a future mosaic work, revealing the increasingly fluid relationship between the artist’s plotter practice and his Venetian mosaic production. What begins as an investigation into structure and form becomes a meditation on devotion itself: the sustained act of returning, repeating, and building meaning through accumulated gestures.

Borrowing the visual legacy of one of contemporary art’s most recognizable typographic sculptures, the work reconstructs the image through densely plotted linear systems. Rather than presenting a solid object, the composition generates the illusion of volume through layers of precisely calculated vector paths. As the viewer moves, the structure appears to expand and contract, producing a subtle kinetic vibration that transforms a static word into an active visual experience.

Executed with metallic silver marker on black Fabriano paper, the drawing shifts with changing light conditions. The reflective surface enhances the sensation of depth while evoking digital circuitry, architectural wireframes, and computational mapping systems.

The title carries a dual meaning. The binary structure refers both to the digital logic underlying contemporary image-making and to the reduction of form into elemental units. Devotion refers to something far older: the human capacity to direct attention, affection, and commitment toward an idea, a practice, or a presence without expectation of return.

Developed through workflows rooted in legacy software environments and executed through controlled mechanical drawing, the work continues the artist’s investigation into software archaeology, machine-assisted authorship, and the translation of digital systems into physical objects.
