LINA PIXEL REMIX Venetian Mosaic · 60×60cm / 120×120cm · 2020

US$2.400

Limited Edition of 5 • Large Format Available

A tribute to one of the most enduring images in the history of art and design. In this work, the artist reinterprets the face of Lina Cavalieri, immortalized through the iconic visual universe of Piero Fornasetti, translating her unmistakable features into the language of physical pixels and Venetian mosaic.

Constructed pixel by pixel, the work explores the remarkable journey of an image across three centuries. Originally photographed in the late nineteenth century, transformed into a design icon throughout the twentieth, and reconstructed here through contemporary mosaic practice, Lina becomes a symbol of visual permanence and cultural reinvention.

The monochromatic palette plays a central role in the composition. Black, white, and subtle tonal variations emphasize structure, contrast, and rhythm, revealing how a highly recognizable image can retain its power even when reduced to a geometric grid. Rather than reproducing the original portrait, the mosaic examines the mechanisms through which images become timeless.

This piece occupies a unique position within the artist’s ongoing Pixel Remix series. While many works revisit figures from popular culture, Lina Pixel Remix engages directly with the history of design itself, creating a dialogue between photography, decorative arts, digital imagery, and handcrafted mosaic.

The first 60 × 60 cm edition has already entered a private collection. The work is currently available in a monumental 120 × 120 cm format, where the increased scale amplifies the optical experience and architectural presence of the image.

Available in 120 × 120 cm and by commission in additional formats.
