A pivotal work in the evolution of the artist’s Pixel Remix series. Created in 2022, Frida Pixel Remix 2 revisits one of the most recognizable figures in Latin American art while introducing a format that would become central to the artist’s later production.

Built using an 80 × 80 cm structure equivalent to a 40 × 40 pixel matrix, the work reflects the growing convergence between the artist’s urban interventions and his studio practice. The scale preserves the visual impact of street mosaic while allowing for a greater level of refinement in the construction of the image.

Frida Kahlo’s face emerges from a carefully orchestrated grid of Venetian glass tesserae, oscillating between abstraction and recognition depending on the viewing distance. Up close, the viewer encounters the material reality of the square. From afar, the portrait resolves into a powerful and unmistakable presence.

The work also highlights a recurring theme throughout the artist’s practice: the relationship between human perception and technology. Viewed through a smartphone camera, the image often appears with enhanced definition, revealing how contemporary visual experience is increasingly mediated by digital systems. In this sense, the mosaic becomes both a physical object and an investigation into how images are constructed, processed, and understood in the twenty-first century.

Part of a limited edition of five pieces, the first example has already entered a private collection. The work stands as an important milestone in the artist’s ongoing exploration of pixelation, cultural memory, and technological perception.
