A key work within the artist’s exploration of generative systems, optical perception, and algorithmic abstraction. Created in 2023, Procedural Depth Architecture [v.01] investigates how complexity can emerge from the interaction of simple visual structures.

Rather than depicting physical space, the work constructs the conditions through which depth is perceived. Through the precise layering of binary graphic systems, the composition generates the illusion of dimensionality, movement, and spatial vibration without relying on traditional perspective or representational imagery.

The project originated from a significant technical discovery within the artist’s digital practice. While experimenting with overlapping visual structures designed in Macromedia Fireworks, a now-discontinued software that played a foundational role in his early creative development, unexpected optical behaviors began to emerge. These interference patterns revealed new possibilities for constructing visual space through procedural methods rather than illustration.

Executed using black ink on paper with a precision pen plotter, the work embraces an intentionally restricted visual language. Operating within a strictly binary logic, its complexity is generated not through color but through the interaction of repeated structures. As layers intersect and diverge, new forms appear, dissolve, and reorganize themselves according to the viewer’s position.

This investigation continues a trajectory present throughout the artist’s practice since his earliest algorithmic experiments and later exhibitions dedicated to what he defined as Digital Expressionism. Here, geometry becomes architecture, repetition becomes information, and depth emerges from the behavior of the system itself.

Viewed from different distances, the work oscillates between flat pattern and immersive spatial field, creating an experience that exists somewhere between drawing, code, and kinetic art.

Part of a limited edition of five works, Procedural Depth Architecture [v.01] represents an important milestone in the artist’s ongoing research into generative aesthetics, machine-assisted drawing, and the hidden structures underlying digital image construction.
