Cyber Kiss

Created in 2014, Cyber Kiss explores the relationship between digital imagery, material presence and sensory perception. Developed using specially manufactured Venetian tesserae measuring 1.5 × 1.5 cm and 8 mm in thickness, the work extends the artist’s investigation of the pixel beyond image construction and into the physical properties of light, depth and reflection.

Constructed pixel by pixel through individually placed glass tesserae, the mosaic transforms an intimate gesture into a luminous architectural surface. The unusual thickness of the material allows each unit to interact with light as a small optical volume, generating subtle shifts in color, brightness and visual intensity as the viewer moves around the work.

Positioned within the artist’s broader exploration of digital image systems, Cyber Kiss examines how emotional and sensory experiences are mediated through contemporary visual culture. The image oscillates between physical presence and digital appearance, existing simultaneously as a tactile object and a reconstructed screen-based image.

By emphasizing material depth and optical behavior, the work expands the notion of the pixel from a flat informational unit into a tangible architectural element, reinforcing the dialogue between technology, perception and handcrafted construction that defines the artist’s practice.
