Unique work.

Created in 2013, The Climax marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of PixelArt’s practice. As the artist’s first large-scale mosaic, the work introduced a custom color matrix system developed to translate digital imagery into a precise physical structure, enabling the construction of increasingly complex compositions pixel by pixel through Venetian mosaic.

Derived from a photographic source and transformed through processes of reduction, selection and reconstruction, the portrait moves beyond individual identity to become a study of desire, perception and visual intensity. The image captures a moment suspended between sensuality and abstraction, where emotion emerges through the accumulation of thousands of individually placed tesserae.

The work also represents the earliest manifestation of what would later develop into the Autocensorship Systems series. By confronting the limits of representation, visibility and public acceptability, The Climax initiated an ongoing investigation into the relationship between image control, desire and cultural perception.

Positioned between digital image-making and architectural scale, the mosaic established the technical and conceptual foundations that would later expand into public interventions, monumental works and urban image systems.

Unique work.
