Created as part of the Digital Expressionism series, Corporate Captivity explores the invisible structures that shape contemporary life through technology, labor and systems of consent. Developed using 1 × 1 cm Venetian tesserae and assembled pixel by pixel, the work employs a fragmented visual language inspired by software interfaces, digital glitches and computational environments.

Rather than depicting a recognizable subject, the composition operates as a psychological landscape. Layers of distortion, interruption and coded visual elements evoke the constant negotiation between individual agency and institutional systems. Hidden references to command windows, interface design and acceptance mechanisms suggest the silent agreements embedded within everyday digital experiences.

The work reflects on the relationship between security and submission, questioning the ways in which contemporary culture normalizes participation within increasingly complex technological structures. The recurring motif of acceptance becomes a metaphor for the countless invisible contracts that govern modern life, from software licenses to professional routines and algorithmic environments.

Originally exhibited in the artist’s first solo exhibition, Digital Expressionism, the work represents an important expansion of PixelArt’s practice beyond representation and into conceptual abstraction. Here, the pixel ceases to function as a vehicle for depicting an image and instead becomes a critical tool for examining the systems through which contemporary reality is organized and experienced.
