Created in 2026, Binary Devotion: Hardwired [v.01] transforms one of contemporary culture’s most recognizable symbols into a system of information, geometry, and movement.

Emerging directly from the research behind Binary Devotion [v.01], the artist’s plotter-based study on paper, this unique mosaic represents the full material realization of ideas first developed through vector drawing and computational construction. It reflects the increasingly fluid exchange between plotter experimentation and Venetian mosaic, where discoveries in one medium become innovations in the other.

Constructed from 3,600 hand-placed Venetian glass tesserae measuring 1 × 1 cm, the composition abandons traditional image-making in favor of structural logic. Through precisely organized binary line systems, the familiar typographic form becomes a three-dimensional optical event. The surface appears to expand and contract as the viewer moves, generating a subtle kinetic vibration that transforms language into architecture.

The title carries a dual meaning central to the work. Binary refers to the digital logic underlying image construction, while Devotion points to the human capacity for attention, care, and love directed beyond oneself. The term Hardwired bridges both worlds, suggesting something encoded within technology and deeply embedded within human consciousness.

The work also continues the artist’s investigation into software archaeology. Developed through workflows rooted in legacy digital tools such as Macromedia Fireworks, it preserves forms of image construction that have largely disappeared from contemporary creative practice while generating distinctly contemporary visual experiences.
