A significant work in the artist’s ongoing exploration of optical complexity, software archaeology, and machine-assisted drawing. Created in 2025, Buffer Overflow investigates what happens when visual information exceeds the viewer’s ability to process it as individual components, allowing new forms and spatial relationships to emerge from apparent saturation.
Constructed through multiple layers of plotted structures and primary color systems, the work transforms a computational concept into a perceptual experience. Rather than depicting a digital error, the piece explores the moment when accumulated information begins to generate unexpected visual behavior. Interference patterns, shifting depths, and chromatic vibrations create a field that appears simultaneously ordered and unstable.
Developed using workflows rooted in legacy software environments, including techniques derived from Macromedia Fireworks, the work continues the artist’s interest in preserving obsolete forms of digital image construction. Every trajectory is intentionally designed and mechanically executed through the plotter, emphasizing precision, authorship, and control rather than algorithmic randomness.
The layered acrylic pen marks generate a dynamic visual structure that changes according to distance and viewing angle. Areas of overlap produce optical flickering effects reminiscent of screen artifacts, data corruption, and signal interference, while maintaining a strong sense of geometric harmony.
Positioned between drawing, computation, and kinetic perception, Buffer Overflow reflects the artist’s long-term investigation into how images are constructed, processed, and experienced through technological systems.
