Limited Edition of 5
An image made entirely of light.
Part of the Latent Images series, Marilyn Drop Shadow continues the artist’s investigation into perception, absence, and image construction. Using the proprietary Drop Shadow technique, every pixel is translated into a precisely cut paper structure that reveals Marilyn Monroe’s portrait without ink, pigment, or printed marks of any kind.
The image exists only through the interaction between light and shadow. As illumination changes throughout the day, the portrait continuously transforms, shifting from subtle tonal transitions under natural light to dramatic relief under directional artificial lighting. The work behaves as a living image, activated by its environment rather than fixed on its surface.
By replacing color with shadow, the piece establishes a direct dialogue between digital imagery and physical space. The pixel is no longer represented as a square of color but as an absence capable of generating an image through light itself.
One example from this edition is held in a private collection in Paris.
