A defining work within the artist’s ongoing dialogue between street art, pop culture, and digital image construction. Created in 2023, M-Maybe Pixel Remix revisits Roy Lichtenstein’s iconic M-Maybe through the language of Venetian mosaic, transforming one of Pop Art’s most recognizable images into a contemporary exploration of pixel-based perception.

The work establishes a direct connection between two visual revolutions separated by decades. While Lichtenstein employed Ben-Day dots to emulate industrial printing techniques, the artist replaces those mechanical marks with handcrafted glass tesserae, translating the logic of print culture into the visual language of the digital age.

This piece also represents an important milestone in the evolution of the artist’s practice. The 80 × 80 cm format became a crucial scale for connecting his public interventions with his studio production. Built using the same 2 × 2 cm tesserae that characterize many of his urban mosaics, the work occupies a space between the permanence of street art and the intimacy of private collecting.

The significance of the image extends beyond the studio. An earlier version of this composition was installed by the artist in downtown Santiago in 2014, where it remains visible today as part of the city’s urban landscape. This 2023 edition transforms that public intervention into a collectible artwork while preserving the energy, scale, and visual impact of the original street piece.

Viewed up close, the image dissolves into a rhythmic structure of colored glass units. From a distance, the iconic portrait emerges with remarkable clarity, reinforcing one of the artist’s central investigations: how contemporary technology shapes the way we construct, process, and recognize images.
