AEOLIAN DATA STREAM [v.01] Plotter Drawing · 50×50 cm · 2023

US$1.400

Original Artwork Available · Limited Edition of 5

A significant work within the artist’s ongoing investigation into abstraction, generative systems, and kinetic perception. Created in 2023, Aeolian Data Stream [v.01] translates the movement of the Concón Sand Dunes into a visual language built entirely from rhythm, repetition, and algorithmic structure.

Rather than depicting the landscape directly, the work attempts to capture the invisible forces that shape it. Wind, erosion, flow, and geological time are transformed into sequences of modular graphic elements that oscillate across the surface, creating a field of subtle movement and visual instability.

Developed using Macromedia Fireworks, a now-discontinued software that played a formative role in the artist’s digital practice, the composition reflects an ongoing interest in the archaeology of software and the persistence of obsolete technologies within contemporary art. The image is constructed through pixel-based vector systems, combining the precision of digital drafting with the physical presence of ink on paper.

Executed using a pen plotter and black felt-tip marker, the work explores the moiré effect and the perceptual phenomena produced when repeated structures interact. As the viewer moves through space, the composition appears to shift, vibrate, and breathe, evoking the constantly changing surface of wind-shaped dunes.

The piece also continues a trajectory that has been present throughout the artist’s career since his earliest experiments with abstraction in 2013 and later exhibitions dedicated entirely to what he described as Digital Expressionism. Here, the landscape becomes data, the pixel becomes gesture, and the machine becomes an extension of drawing itself.

As part of a limited edition of five works, Aeolian Data Stream [v.01] occupies a pivotal position between generative art, kinetic abstraction, and contemporary drawing.
